AC Installations & Replacements
What Can I Expect During an Air Conditioning Installation Process?
If your home doesn’t currently have an air conditioning unit, the installation process can be quite extensive. It is always a good idea to receive an estimate for both cost and time of installation, so you know what to expect. Unit installations typically last anywhere from eight to 14 hours.
Installing a ductless air conditioner won’t take nearly as long as a duct installation or modification. Ductwork requires more intricate assembly than ductless units. Any unforeseen problems with ductwork can also lengthen the process.
In most cases, your AC can be set-up and running all in one day.
When Should I Replace an Old AC?
We recommend replacing your unit if it is ten years old or more. Even the most expensive and reliable units have limited lifespans. The average AC unit will provide efficient cooling for 10-15 years maximum.
If you are unsure how old your unit is or whether or not it is running efficiently, contacting an expert for an inspection can provide a rough estimate.
How Do I Select a New Air Conditioner?
We recommend hiring a professional to help you find the right AC for your property. Working with an expert is a great way to ensure that you receive a model that will adequately cool your home and last as long as possible.
If you already have a certain brand or model in mind, let us know. We can help you save the most on your unit installation or upgrade.

Air Conditioning Repairs
How Do I Know if I Need my Air Conditioner Repaired?
There are several signs you should look for that indicate an AC repair of some kind is necessary. Look for the following signs:
1. Warm Air is Blowing
First, check the thermostat if warm air is blowing out of your unit. Set the thermostat to ‘cool’ mode and in a range that is lower than your home’s current temperature. If this doesn’t solve the problem, there may be an issue with the AC’s compressor or restricted airflow.
2. Insufficient Airflow
A lack of airflow means your unit is not working efficiently. There could be a block somewhere in the ductwork, a motor malfunction, or a clogged air filter. If you allow your AC to run in this state for too long, you may notice an increase in your monthly energy costs.
3. High Humidity Levels
If your home feels exceptionally humid, your AC may be to blame. Your unit may need a recalibration repair or a whole-house dehumidifier to fix the problem.
4. Water Leaks
Your air conditioner uses refrigerant to cool your home. As your AC operates, you can expect some condensation. However, this liquid should never leak or pool near your unit. Any leaks should be addressed by a professional immediately.
5. Strange Odors or Noises
Any smells or noises that seem out of the ordinary should heighten your attention. Loud banging noises, rattling, buzzing, or odors of any kind call for attention from an expert.

When Should I Call for an Emergency Repair?
If at any point you notice signs that your AC is malfunctioning, you should call to have it serviced as soon as possible. Some repairs are fairly straightforward, while others are more extensive and require immediate attention. Calling a professional at the first sign that something is off will ensure you get the help you need regardless of the source or severity of the problem.

How Often Should I Replace My AC Filter?
How often you need to change your filter depends on the type you are using, as well as whether or not you have pets in your home or are prone to allergies. For less expensive filters, you may want to consider changing them at least once a month. High-end filters, on the other hand, can last as long as six months. If you have allergies, you may want to consider changing your AC filter more often.
Why is Regular Maintenance Important?
Regular AC maintenance is important for a few reasons. Staying on top of maintenance ultimately saves you money in the long run. Tending to repairs early can spare you the headache of a major replacement in the future. Find out more by reading our blog about AC maintenance linked below.
